School Bus and Start Time Changes for 2014-2015

In early February the School Board approved new bus arrival and departure times for 2014-2015. The approved schedule moves Broadview Thomson’s bus arrival time from 9:05 this year to 9:15 next year and bus departure time from 3:50 this school year to 4:10 next year.

During that meeting the School Board also ended yellow bus transportation for middle school students who live outside of Broadview Thomson’s middle school attendance area and for elementary school students who live outside our elementary attendance area.  This includes sunsetting any previous “grandfathering” of transportation that was allowed when the New Student Assignment Plan took effect in 2010-11.

These new bus times will impact school start and end times for next year, although exact bell times have yet to be determined. We do not have any additional details at this time, but we will continue to pass along information as soon as it becomes available.

If you have concerns regarding any of this information, you can write to either schoolboard@seattleschools.org and/or arrivaltimes@seattleschools.org to ensure they hear concerns from community members who will be directly impacted by these changes.

If you have questions about your student’s transportation options for next year you can call the transportation office at 252-0900.

The full summary of the School Board decision can be found here.
