Bookmobile Volunteer Needed
Ms. Bloom is asking for a volunteer! Anne Bloom (a BT multilingual teacher) is looking for a volunteer (or two volunteers who could alternate weeks) who is able to help Wednesdays from 11:00-1:10 pm with her Bookmobile Project. The bookmobile visits all the 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade classes for about 15-20 minutes each, allowing pairs of students to choose a book to read together (like a mini book club!) She’d love to start training someone as soon as possible!
It’s not complicated and would involve these activities:
    - Pushing the cart down the hall
    - Letting students check books in and out (includes a brief verbal check-in about how they liked the book & why they gave it the review they did)
    - Keeping track of the paperwork (not a big deal)
    - Hanging up the book reviews on the bulletin board outside her classroom
Questions? Interested? Email Ms. Bloom asbloom@seattleschools.org

Volunteering On Campus:

Examples: Monitoring lunch and recess, volunteering in the classroom, chaperoning field trips, helping with the Art Walk or the Community Cultural Night

Steps to volunteer:

  1. Obtain approval from Seattle Public Schools.  Follow these instructions. (Category A is the most common type of volunteer role people apply for.)

  2. Once your SPS application gets approved (i.e. the Volunteer Portal says “You are eligible to volunteer with Seattle Public Schools”), please email our Broadview Volunteer Liaison, Cathy Donohue, at cldonohue@seattleschools.org to confirm that you have Broadview Thomson-level approval.
NOTE: This process takes 2-3 weeks to complete before you are approved to volunteer. Login to your account on the Volunteer Portal after two weeks to check your status before contacting the school to confirm you are ready to volunteer at Broadview-Thomson.

  3. Once you receive Broadview-level approval, you can sign-up via the links at the top of this page for on-campus opportunities.
